St. Johns Deck & Arbor
We love when our clients become friends. Fred and Randy had just moved into their home and were starting with empty slate and a lot of goals. It was a perfect match for Placecraft’s comprehensive design and consultation process.
We knew they wanted a covered deck, but in talking with them a bit more, in addition to entertaining we learned that Fred wanted establish a backyard bird habitat and Randy wanted to grow more veggies. So our design included ample sunny space for an annual garden and eventual greenhouse, raised beds along the front and a trellised soil beds in the brick for climbing perennials. We also added at no charge a ramp out of our scraps for easier access for their dog when we learned the he suffered from arthritis in his hips.

“We had moved into our St. Johns home in September and truly loved the backyard space for our dogs and entertaining but realized that we lacked a patio ( preferably covered) to enhance our backyard experience and increase the time we could spend outside.
Oliver toured our property and suggested that we consider a raised deck off the back of our house with a slanted metal roof that allowed light in the winter months and still provided shade for the summer.
Using fir and a true artisan viewpoint, Oliver and his team created a space for us that was extraordinary. Our covered deck was beautiful, functional and a major selling point when the time came to move last October. The beauty of the addition was something that anyone that came to our home commented on immediately. The deck provided us with a sense of expansiveness off our house that was impressive.
Oliver commented that he wanted the deck to be incorporated into the landscaping that we were planning for our property so he built planters at the base of the deck on two sides that allowed us to plant our bushes and flowers that continued the theme in our yard. Once completed and fully functional the deck was indeed an integral part of the foliage and trees that we had planted. We can not recommend Oliver more highly. His artistic vision, his work ethic and pleasant personality, made the deck project special in every way for us. Oliver Ogden will provide you with a lifetime of memories.”
